The Road describes a journey between a man and his son heading south after a unnamed catastrophe has hit the world.As the boy and his father remain unnamed throughout the book they travel through the rough terrain of the southeastern United States. Some of the conditions these father and son duo ran into rotted corpses, landscapes devastated by fire, abandoned town and houses. These two are part of the small group of living things remaining on earth who haven't been driven to murder, rape, and cannibalism. The boy and his father struggle to stay alive in the harsh weather with barley any food supplies and shelter. throughout there journey they must escape from people who want to steal from them and even kill them for food. despite the hard times between the father and son they remain determined to survive and continue to be the good guys who don't want to harm others.During the expedition the father's health worsens as they travel so when they finally reach the ocean the father is near death. the two are forced to move slower each day. finally the father dies in the woods in the middle of the night lying next to his son. the boy stays next to his father for several day after he dies. the boys meets a kind family who invites him to join them. the boy must say goodbye to his father and get reading for a new journey with this famiy.
